Sweet Lemon | Sweet Lime – Citrus limetta
Sweet Lemon, Citrus limetta, also known as Sweet Limetta, Mediterranean Sweet Lemon, and Sweet Lime, is a small, evergreen, fruit bearing species of citrus tree, indigenous to South and South East Asia.
The plnt is a small tree which may reach 8 meters in height with irregular branches, and relatively smooth, brownish-gray bark. It has numerous spines which may grow to anywhere from 1.5 to 7.5 cm long.
Citrus limetta has leaflets instead of leaves, which are egg-shaped with the narrower end at the base, 5 to 17 cm long and 3 to 8 cm wide. The peak of the leaflet is pointed, and the base rounded. Flowers are white, aromatic, ranging from 1-5cm wide. The petals fall away soon after they open, leaving the fruit to grow.

The fruit is edible, and contains essential oils. The skin is light yellow at maturity and the rind is white and about 5 mm thick. The flesh is greenish and the juice is sweet instead of acidic. it can be used in the making of marmalade and refreshing drinks.
