Peruvian Apple Cactus, Cereus repandus, is an indigenous, fruit bearing cactus plant, of South America also known as Apple Cactus, Giant Club Cactus and Hedge Cactus. It is a large, upright, thorny and columnar plant with gray-green to blue multi-lobed stems. It can grow to reach 10 meters in height and 10-20 cm in diameter with an frequently tree-like visual appearance.

Cereus repandus is a member of the Cactaceae family the genus Cereus. Cereus repandus plants will endure very high temperatures but are not too frost hardy. They will however make it to -3°C. This columnar cactus is grown, other than its edible fruit, also as an ornamental in arid landscapes.

The night-time appearing flowers of the Peruvian Apple Cactus stay open for only a single night. The fruits known locally as Peruvian Apple are thorn-less and vary in skin color from violet-red to yellow.

The Fruit is edible medium sized, dark-red fruit with white mild sweet flesh and small, edible, crisp seeds; it sweetens further as the fruit opens out in full. It is Similar in appearance to the dragon fruit. Fruits can be consumed fresh.

Plant propagation is by seeds, or by stem cuttings. Peruvian Apple Cactus plants need a full sun location to grow and very little water and care once established.
